Paula, the Queen of Southern Cooking

Everyday, many customers line up in front of the Lady and Sons restaurant to get a taste of the fabulous southern cooking its famous chef and owner dishes out perfectly day after day.
Who is the owner?
Paula Deen, is most probably the queen of Southern Cooking today. Her hit show Paulaˇ¦s Home Cooking, her bestselling books and her own private story paved the way to her fame she is experiencing today.
Paula, who has been living with agoraphobia (fear of open spaces) for twenty years and a damaged marriage was left with two sons and without any source of livelihood. As a girl raised in the Deep South, southern cooking was her legacy and the kitchen became her last resort in order to survive and raise her two sons.
Having only two hundred dollars and her sons, Paula started a domestic lunch delivery service named the Bag Lady in June 1989. Everything in her business was uncomplicated and very simple. She prepared sandwiches and her sons went out and sold them.
After two years, the Bag Lady developed into a big domestic business. Paula launched her first restaurant named The Lady and after five years, it successfully grew and became extremely popular. On January 1996, Paula and her sons went from selling tuna fish sandwiches to managing their own restaurant in Savannahˇ¦s City market.
The Lady and Sons unlocked doors to loyal patrons, famous personality customers, and thousands of Savannah guests looking out for Paula's well-known fried chicken.
In 1997, Paula made her first book called The Lady and Sons Savannah Country Cookbook. A big publishing house rapidly chose it after an agent suddenly came into the restaurant for lunch to get away from a blessing. She bought the book from Paula and instantly noticed its potential. Then, Paula started her way to national acknowledgment in 1998 by endorsing its sale on QVC TV where it turned out to be one of the best selling recipe books.
In 1999, she printed another bestselling book The Lady and Sons, Too! Her third cookbook came out in 2002 entitled The Lady and Sons Just Desserts.
Paulaˇ¦s smart hand in the kitchen, shared with her finesse for remarkable touches, has placed her restaurants and recipe books a great distance from the others. Her willpower, effort, and natural warm Southern appeal have completed the recipe for success, or so to speak.
Here are two famous recipes of Paula Deen that she has freely shared with the people who have grown to love her dishes. Try them out and see how you can cook Pork Chops the way Paula, the queen of southern cooking does it.
Kentucky Colonel Barbecue Pork Chops
2 1/2 cups water

2 tbsp. brown sugar

2 tbsp. oil

1/4 cup vinegar

2 1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 cup sliced onion or 2 tbsp. onion powder

2 1/2 tsp. black pepper

2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp. dehydrated mustard

2 tsp. chili powder

1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce

1/2 tsp. red pepper

1 clove garlic or 1 tbsp. milled garlic
10 (1-inch thick) pork chops

Mix all the ingredients except the pork chops and bring to a rolling boil. Take it away from the heat and cool. Refrigerate the mixture all night to blend the flavors.

Heat the grill to an average-high heat.
Put sauce to chops with dish wipe or paint brush. Grill to desired result for 5 minutes each side for medium well doneness. Baste with sauce every time you turn each side.
STUFFED PORK CHOP
4 (1 1/2 to 2-inch thick) pork chops
1 lb. sausage, slice into 4 equal parts
House Seasoning:
1 cup salt
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup garlic powder
Olive oil, for brushing
Prepare the grill for direct grilling. When the charcoals are hot, spread them equally and put a grilling grate on top to heat. For the meantime, stuff each pork chop with sausage and massage meat freely with the seasoning. Encase pork with a wooden spear or toothpick. Brush oil on the grill grate to avoid sticking. Put the pork chops on grate and grill until well browned for 5 to 6 minutes. Turn to the other side and repeat the procedure. Ensure that the pork and sausage are completely cooked.
